Chikubu no Sato Main Building
Recreating an elegant Heian atmosphere on the approximately 800 tsubo (approx. 2,645 square meters) grounds,
Pass through the Nagaya Gate at the entrance to see a garden that recreates the Minase Drawing expand in front of you.
Stroll around the outer perimeter to enjoy plums, cherry blossoms, autumn foliage, and other sights of the four seasons that were loved by the people of the Heian period.
The exterior of the building nestled in the rear of the garden is based on sturdy square log architecture representative of the Nara period,
which was built with the wishes of Ogura Sanso of having new cultures and traditions born here.

The Ogura Sanso Café offers seasonal, flavorful sweets, elaborate mochi-zen (rice cake meals), and okowa-zen (rice with red beans meals) in order for our customers to enjoy a relaxing and comforting time talking with family and friends to their heart's content.
When visiting our store, please savor our original menu items that are filled with the deliciousness of the world of Ogura Hyakunin Isshu.
Nagaoka Kyo Meigetsu Karyo

Meigetsu Karyo was opened on the first floor of the Chikubu no Sato Annex in the spring of 2015 as a Japanese confectionary brand.
The store conveys the joys and emotions of life, relaxation and conversation,
through high quality Japanese confectionaries served with the spirit and form of Setsugekka (snow, moon, flowers),
the source of Japanese beauty and culture.
Our store welcomes our customers with items only available at the Meigetsu Karyo, including Fluffy Bouchée and Mochi Manju.
